Arlette Nude + cartoons

Another quick picture of Arlette. I had asked MQmoxie if I could draw Arlette with her tattoo.
Arlette is a interesting character to draw for me. I'll do more of her working on various things later.

I have a question, what happend to cartoons?! Everything is either an anime that they've chopped the crap out of, an imitation of the japanese style, an american cartoon that is so crappily drawn you want to gouge out your eyes just to make the image burned into your retina go away, or looks like it was done in flash.

I'm not bashing flash. I love flash movies on the internet, some of them are fantastic. However the reason why the animation is bad is because thier trying to save on size. This does not translate well into cartoons. Take the time to actually animate the cartoon instead of cutting corners. I've never been much of an Aqua Teen Hunger Force fanbecause of this. The writting is really good, however the presentation leaves something to be desired. You can argue that "it's the style of the cartoon" and you'd be correct, it is the style cause the studio decided they could save a thousand dollars by faking animation. Which is now carrying over into other cartoons.

This one is mostly for the networks. If your going to purchase the rights to present an anime, then actually spend time to show the anime the way it was ment to be seen. Anime is good when you watch it the way the original creators ment it to be shown. However somewhere along the lines someone decided that we need to be forced fed what thier morals are. We've become a country of prudes. Instead of embracing sexuality or human nature we shun it like it's some type of disease that can be cured. Alot of what made the old bugs bunny cartoons funny was they hit on everything, subtle or not. Bugs wasn't gay, but they still showed him kissing another guy or dressed in drag. It MADE the jokes better. Now adays you wouldn't be able to produce that cartoon. Something about offending some person somewhere maybe...

It's weird for american cartoons once I hit the years after Ren and Stimpy came out the number of cartoons I love and want to own drops to nothing over time. Before R&S I have Looney Toons, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Flintstones (the earlier ones), Jetsons (early ones).
After R&S I have Animaniacs, and Invader Zim.

We need to figure out a way to bring people back from the dead like Tex Avery or Bob Clampette to show people a thing or two....

Backgrounds and other things

one thing I love is reading John K's blog. However I'm starting to notice a disturbing pattern. All of my original drawing patterns (having flow with my drawings, and organic feels) I have to go back and relearn, it seems that when people gave me suggestions (like using a ruler) it degraded my drawing capability.

Anyway above is the new page to Tides of Change, the page is turning out nicely but it still needs work. Panel 4 and 8 bother me...

This is a background drawing I randomly started doing. I love the colors on my trees
